Chinese top leadership meets on Monday to discuss socialist system

BEIJING, Oct 27 (INP): The fourth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will meet here on Monday to discuss ways and means for enhancing the capacity of good governance under the socialist system.

According to a report of China Economic Net, it is in accordance with a decision made at a CPC Central Committee Political Bureau.

President Xi Jinping who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee will preside over the meeting that will continue till Thursday.

The members of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau at their recent meeting had discussed important issues concerning how to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and modernize China’s system and capacity for governance, according to a statement issued after the meeting.

They were briefed about the opinions solicited from in and outside the CPC about a document on the CPC Central Committee’s decision concerning how to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and modernize China’s system and capacity for governance, the statement said.

They decided that the document will be revised based on the discussion at Thursday’s meeting and submitted to the fourth plenary session.

The document won recognition from people from various regions and sectors as well as delegates to the 19th CPC National Congress, who offered many constructive proposals, the statement said.

The meeting underscored upholding and improving the major institutions that underpin the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

It called for developing a set of institutions that are well-conceived, fully built, procedure-based and efficiently functioning.

Speaking of the overall goals to be met, the meeting vowed to see that institutions in all fields are notably improved when the CPC marks its centenary, before the modernization of China’s system and capacity for governance is basically achieved by 2035 and realized in full as the People’s Republic of China celebrates its centenary.

Calling upholding and improving the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and modernizing China’s system and capacity for governance a major strategic mission for the CPC, the meeting stressed that the efforts must be carried out under the unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee.
