Appointment of 135,000 teachers in Sindh to be on merit: Sharmila Farooqui


KARACHI, March 10 (INP): Advisor to CM Sindh, Sharmila Farooqui has said that provincial government of Sindh would appoint 135,000 teachers in government schools across the province during the current month and scholarship for deserved female students has been raised to Rs. 2600 against previous amount of Rs. 1000.

She was addressing a ceremony in Pakistan Navy’s SR Majeed Government Degree College held in connection with the Students Week, here on Wednesday.

Sharmila Farooqui said that the all the appointments in the government schools should be made on merit and no misappropriation would be tolerated.

The Advisor to CM Sindh said that sitting PPP led provincial and Federal government were giving top priority to female education as educated mother can help to nourish a youth which could lead and take the country out of prevailing crises.

She claimed that development of nation depends upon its literacy rate and it is misfortune of the country that numbers of children do not visit schools.

The Advisor urged the private schools to assist government in increasing literacy rate in urban and rural areas.

Shamila Farooqui said that the PPP government had allocated 7% of the GDP for education sector which would surely help in increasing literacy rate and quality of the education.
