Zimbabwean batsman joins highest ODI runs record with Saeed Anwar
BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe, Aug 16 (INP): Zimbabwean right-hand-batsman Charles Kevin Coventry has equaled 12-year old record of highest scores in a One Day International (ODI) match on Sunday.
Coventry, 26, made unbeaten 194 runs in his only 14th ODI match during fourth match of the home series versus Bangladesh and joined highest individual score in ODI.
The 194-run record was earlier held by legendary Pakistan batsman Saeed Anwar, who scored his knock against arch-rival India during an ODI in Chennai on May 21, 1997.
Coventry reached his unbeaten blockbuster innings with 16 fours and 7 sixes.
The Zim batsman, who is also a legbreak bowler, made his ODI debut in July 2003 against England and has since played only 14 matches.
This was the first ODI hundred for Coventry, who has only made two fifties during his ODI career.
Saeed Anwar had played 247 ODIs during his career and scored 8824 runs.
