Measles, Rubella vaccination campaign from Nov 17 to 29: DCBreaking

The district administration on Friday announced the launch of the national Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccination drive across the district, scheduled from November 17 to 29. In an official statement, the administration urged parents to ensure that all children aged 6 months to 5 years receive the WHO-approved, safe, and effective MR vaccine, which is being provided free of cost at designated centres. Health authorities reported that 192 measles cases have been recorded in Lower Dir this year, resulting in two child deaths. 

Experts warned that a single measles patient can infect 15 to 17 other children, highlighting the urgency of mass vaccination.The district administration appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the vaccination teams, emphasizing that collective responsibility is essential to protect public health, maintain peace, and promote a safer and healthier Pakistan. Meanwhile, the administration has enforced Section 144 across the district to maintain public order and ensure safety.

According to the office of the Deputy Commissioner/ District Magistrate, Section 144 has been imposed on double riding, aerial firing, display of weapons, sale and use of fireworks and inflammable materials, and flying of quadcopters and drones. All Assistant Commissioners, Additional Assistant Commissioners, and police officials have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order. Violators will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
