In a significant development for Pakistan’s higher education sector, the University of Sargodha (UoS) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Hainan Leyin Investment Co. Ltd. to establish an international campus along with an international hospital in Sanya, Hainan Province, accounting to Gwadar Pro.

According to UoS, the agreement makes the university the first Pakistani institution to launch a campus in China, marking what university officials described as a major step toward strengthening academic, research and cultural cooperation between Pakistan and China. UoS issued an official statement on the development late Saturday evening.

The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and senior officials of Hainan Leyin Investment.

The chairman of the company welcomed the delegation and assured full support for the establishment of the campus and hospital.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas termed the partnership “a milestone in Pakistan-China educational relations,” adding that the initiative reflects the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

He also invited the Chinese delegation to visit UoS, an invitation that was warmly accepted.

Moreover, the Prof. Abbas-led delegation also inspected the proposed land in Sanya City to establish the international campus.

The delegation reviewed the site’s suitability, surrounding infrastructure and development potential, expressing confidence in Sanya’s strategic location as an emerging hub for international education and innovation.

Speaking during the inspection, Prof. Abbas said the establishment of a UoS campus in Hainan would be “a milestone in enhancing the university’s global outreach and fostering collaborative research and academic partnerships.”
