Asad Umar’s resignation acceptance of failure of govt’s economic policies: Siraj

LAHORE, April 18 (INP): Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the resignation of the Finance Minister Asad Omar is an acceptance of failure of the economic policies of the government.

In his reaction to the development, Sirajul Haq said that from the very first day, questions were being raised on the competence of the entire government which neither had a vision nor a strong team to run the country. The performance of the government till now proved that it did not know its goal, he added.

He said that with the opening batsman of the government team returning to the pavilion, the whole government team was under pressure.

The JI chief said that instead of trying to improve the economy, the government had further deteriorated it. He said that neither the tax net had been widened nor the target of taxes been achieved and there had been a fall of Rs. 230 billion in the tax collection.

He said the government had not provided any relief to the people despite heavy financial assistance form friendly countries.

Sirajul Haq said the PTI leadership had been terming the IMF loan as suicidal yet it knocked the IMF door which was responsible for the present economic crisis in the country.

JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, while commenting on the Finance Minister’s resignation, said that Asad Omar was not solely responsible for the economic crisis in the country and the actual responsible lay on the Prime Minister Imran khan. He said that Imran Khan had himself introduced the concept that the team leader was responsible for the team’s failure. Therefore, he said, in principle, the Imran Khan should accept the responsibility of his government failure.

Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq condemning the brutal murder of 14 passengers on the Coastal Highway in Quetta has termed it as the work of the Kalboshan network.

Expressing sympathies with the bereaved families, he stressed upon the federal and the provincial governments to take necessary steps to wipe out terrorism.
