NA body briefed on encroached/retrieved land of railways

ISLAMABAD, Dec 29 (INP): The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Pakistan Railways (PRs) was brief about the land of railways encroached and retrieved.

The 23rd meeting of NA committee was held today in Committee Room No 2, Parliament House, Islamabad on Friday under the chair Chairman of the Committee MNA Syed Naveed Qamar.

The Committee was briefed about encroachment on railway land. It was informed by the Ministry that 3698.814 Acres of railway land has been retrieved/regularized till date. Railways Engineering Code is used to determine valuation of land. The Ministry also informed that some variation is expected in figures after automation of record.

The Committee rued lack of initiative by Ministry on the issue of encroachment. The committee directed Ministry to furnish it with final and exact figures on retrieved encroached land, its possession and policy governing the entire issue.

The meeting was attended by members/MNAs Sardar Muhamad Irfan Dogar, Rasheed Ahmed Khan, Dr Nisar Ahmad Jatt, Amjad Ali Khan, Mr Sajid Ahmed Ramesh Lal and Ms Naseema Hafeez Panezai besides senior officers from the Ministry of Railways along with their staff.
