Five Elite Force policemen embraced martyrdom and two received critical injuries and one dacoit was killed when over a dozen outlaws attacked Shekhani police checkpost in Sadiqabad city of Punjab. The checkpost is located at Mahi Chowk in Sadqiabad.The martyred policemen have been identified as Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Saleem, Nakheel, Constable Khalil and Ghazanfar.

The dead bodies have been shifted to the Shaikh Zayed Hospital. According to a police spokesman, dozens of bandits attacked the police post and martyred five personnel of Elite Force and injured two, who were admitted to the hospital. Upon receiving information about the attack, DPO Irfan Ali Samoun reached the spot along with a police contingent. One robber was also killed in the encounter.

The dacoits targeted the police post with rocket-launchers. DPO Irfan Ali Samoun said the outlaws will be brought to justice. Two of the martyred policemen belonged to Rahim Yar Khan and three were residents of Bahawalnagar.A heavy police force team reached the area, and all roads leading to Katcha area have been cordoned off, with the enhancement of security and patrolling.

The fight against the attacking robbers is ongoing, and they are being pursued, the police spokesman said. The attackers were equipped with modern weapons. Police have launched a search operation and are using modern weapons and armoured vehicles to arrest or kill the robbers.
