Two men booked for stealing wood from a government forest and torturing a forestry worker in the Chowk Azam area,here on Friday.According to the FIR, two suspects identified as Fayyaz and Feroz were caught cutting eucalyptus trees and loading the wood onto a loader rickshaw.When an irrigation baildar tried to stop them,the suspects allegedly tied him with ropes and severely beat him. The baildar managed to alert Forest Guard Muhammad Saleem,who later tried to stop the suspects on the road.
However,they threatened to kill him and escaped with the stolen timber. Police have registered a case worth cash amounting Rs.55,000 under Sections.379 and 411 of the Pakistan Penal code at the Chowk Azam Police Station on the complaint of Forest Guard Saleem. According to the FIR, Fayyaz, son of Riaz and Feroz alias Teddy were cutting eucalyptus trees from the government forest and loading them onto a loader rickshaw.
When the irrigation baildar attempted to stop them, the suspects allegedly tied him with ropes and subjected him to severe torture. On receiving a call from the baildar, Forest Guard Muhammad Saleem intercepted the suspects on the road, but they threatened to kill him and fled with the stolen timber. A case of forest theft worth Rs 55,000 has been registered against both suspects at Chowk Azam Police Station under sections 379 and 411 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Forest Guard Muhammad Saleem.
