The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan has awarded a scholarship grant worth Rs. 4 million to students at Karakoram International University (KIU) under the Ambassador’s Merit-cum-Need Scholarship Program, according to a statement.
The university’s Directorate of Public Relations said the funding will support talented and deserving students in continuing their higher education.
The scholarships will be distributed among students at the main campus as well as all sub-campuses, according to a Gwadar Pro's report.
Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice Chancellor of KIU, conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Chinese Ambassador and the embassy delegation, describing their support as a meaningful contribution toward strengthening opportunities for young people in Gilgit-Baltistan.
“This scholarship initiative will play an important role in nurturing competent and well-educated graduates who can make valuable contributions to society,” he stated.
“It is a commendable effort that brings significant benefits to the students, the university and the entire region.”
The university’s Financial Aid Office has announced applications are open for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, including a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 for consideration under both merit- and need-based criteria.
