March 11, 2026

The district administration in Gwadar has set a target to enroll 5,500 children in schools during 2026 as part of a districtwide School Admission Campaign aimed at bringing out-of-school children into the education system.

Deputy Commissioner Naqibullah Kakar chaired a meeting with officials from the education department and other stakeholders to outline the strategy for achieving the enrollment goal, Gwadar Pro reported. Kakar said the administration will mobilize community leaders and local representatives to raise awareness about the importance of education.

Figures from political parties, union council councilors, ward members, and chairpersons and members of Parents Teachers School Management Committees (PTSMCs) will be involved in the campaign. “Our mechanism is to create strong public awareness so that every child who is out of school can be brought into the education system,” Kakar said.

As part of the campaign, a mobile library initiative known as “Kitab Gadi” will travel to villages across the district to promote education and encourage families to enroll their children in schools. He said social media platforms, mainstream media outlets and local non-governmental organizations will also be engaged to support the awareness drive.

“We will not leave any stone unturned to achieve the target set by the provincial government,” Kakar said. A district-level committee comprising the deputy commissioner, district education officers and other officials has been formed to oversee the campaign.

Additional committees have been established at the tehsil level, while village-level committees will be headed by school principals or headmasters. “We will try our best to bring all out-of-school children into education and ensure that every child is enrolled,” Kakar said.

In December 2025, Gwadar was declared the first district in Balochistan to fully functionalize all government schools under Phase IV of the provincial education reforms.

All 313-government primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools for boys and girls across the district are now operational, with no non-functional schools remaining. Before the initiative began, 63 schools in the district had been identified as non-functional.
