In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have imposed fresh restrictions in parts of Doda district, further tightening curbs on public gatherings and limiting basic civic freedoms in the territory.According to Kashmir Media Service, the Modi regime has enforced a two-month ban on unauthorised assemblies, protests and public meetings in key areas of Doda town under Section 163 of the draconian Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The order prohibits the gathering of five or more persons at several locations, including Clock Tower Chowk, Dessa Road, Akramabad, the sports stadium and surrounding areas.Officials warned that any violation of the restrictions would invite legal action under relevant provisions of the law. The administration claimed that such measures were necessary to maintain public order, prevent inconvenience to commuters and ensure safety.

However, only those events that have received prior official permission have been exempted from the ban.Observers say the move is part of a broader pattern of restricting peaceful assembly and dissent in the occupied territory, where strict controls are frequently imposed to prevent public expression.

They noted that repeated use of such orders reflects growing intolerance towards political activity and public mobilization.Meanwhile, the latest restrictions come amid reports that large public gatherings were expected following the recent release of a political figure in the area, with authorities citing apprehensions of protests and demonstrations as the reason behind the clampdown.
