FWO rehabilitates 58-km Dassu-Sazin section of Karakoram HighwayBreaking

The National Highway Authority announced the final evaluation report for the up-gradation and rehabilitation of a section of the Karakoram Highway (KKH), a historic road linking Pakistan and China and widely regarded as a symbol of enduring friendship between the two countries, according to a Gwadar Pro's report. As per the official document, the project titled “Up-gradation/Rehabilitation of KKH N-35 Between KM 292+00 – 350+00 Dassu-Sazin,” was procured through a single-stage two-envelope bidding procedure in accordance with public procurement rules.

According to the announcement, M/s FWO was declared the lowest evaluated bidder with a rebated cost of Rs5,608,170,338 (about Rs5.6 billion), and was found responsive under PPRA Rules, 2004. The project will be financed through the Road Maintenance Account (RMA) of NHA, according to the bidding data.

The contract involves the up-gradation and rehabilitation of the Karakoram Highway section between Dassu and Sazin. The Karakoram Highway, also known as National Highway-35 (N-35), is a key transport corridor connecting Pakistan and China and facilitating regional connectivity, trade, and economic cooperation.

KKH, or the Karakoram Highway, is considered one of the most important infrastructure links between the two neighboring countries and plays a vital role in strengthening bilateral connectivity and economic integration.
