Five Northern and Eastern European nations have agreed at the official level to provide job opportunities for Pakistanis, marking a significant development in cooperation on legal migration and labour mobility. According to the channel report, the announcement came during a six-country interior ministers’ conference on illegal immigration held in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, where Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi led the Pakistani delegation.

The meeting brought together interior ministers from Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Lithuania and Pakistan to discuss coordinated measures against irregular migration and human smuggling. At the Warsaw conference, the interior ministers of Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Lithuania praised Pakistan’s efforts to curb illegal immigration and combat human trafficking networks. The five European nations acknowledged Islamabad’s recent measures aimed at dismantling smuggling rings and strengthening border controls.

During the discussions, all five Northern and Eastern European countries agreed in principle to offer official-level employment opportunities to Pakistani nationals. The move is seen as part of a broader strategy to promote legal migration pathways while discouraging irregular travel and human smuggling. The participating European states share close ties through their membership in the European Union and NATO, as well as regional cooperation frameworks such as the Nordic-Baltic Eight.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, commonly referred to as the Baltic States, are often grouped together due to their shared history of Soviet occupation and independence in 1991. Finland and Poland are key regional partners, with Finland maintaining particularly close cultural links with Estonia, while Latvia and Lithuania share historical connections with Poland. Speaking at the conference, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed his counterparts on the current situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
