The mysterious death of actress and model Humaira Asghar, found deceased in her flat in the Defense area of Karachi, has prompted a thorough investigation by local authorities. The Provincial Police, led by DIG South Asad Raza, have included the actress’s former housekeeper, building management, and watchman in their probe, as all were reportedly in contact with Asghar until October 2024.According to investigators, Asghar’s former housekeeper left her employment earlier in 2024.

The absence of CCTV cameras outside and around the flat has led authorities to focus on questioning these individuals to gather more information. The police have also taken possession of three keys to the main door of the flat, all found inside the residence, which was double-locked from the inside. Preliminary findings suggest that Asghar may have been facing financial difficulties. Her last commercial shoot was in September 2024, and she was actively seeking work in October.

However, an examination of her bank account, a current account with a private bank, revealed a balance of over Rs 398,000, with regular withdrawals of Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 via ATMs. This has led investigators to question earlier assumptions of financial distress.Significant evidence was uncovered during the investigation, including utility bills and house rent slips up to May 2024, found inside the flat. Clothes were discovered in the washroom tub of the room where Asghar’s body was found, next to the bedroom, with signs indicating they had been washed prior to her death.

The balcony door in the same room was open, and the washroom window in the adjacent room was also ajar, possibly allowing the smell of the decomposing body to escape.DIG Asad Raza noted that the body’s odor suggested it had been decomposing for 5 to 40 days. The flat next to Asghar’s had been vacant for an extended period, and her neighbors were absent during this time, which may explain why the smell went unnoticed.

The watchman reportedly called Asghar three days after the suspected date of the incident, October 7, 2024, but received no response. A friend also attempted to contact her after that date, to no avail.Investigators believe Asghar, who frequently traveled between Karachi and Lahore, may have been presumed to be in Lahore by those trying to reach her.

The cause of death is still under investigation, pending a chemical examination and final medical report. The building’s management committee is also under scrutiny, with further inquiries planned regarding the watchman and neighbors.The police continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding Asghar’s death, with the hope that forensic evidence and witness statements will provide clarity in this tragic case.
