The third spell of monsoon is expected to enter Karachi from tomorrow, but despite weather forecasts, the city’s stormwater drains remain choked with garbage and debris.At Gulistan-e-Jauhar, the Johar Nullah is still filled with waste, raising concerns of urban flooding once the rains begin.

Local residents expressed frustration, saying that every year the drains overflow during rainfall, but no effective cleaning is carried out. "We have never seen proper cleaning of this drain," a resident remarked, highlighting the persistent negligence of civic authorities. As the city prepares for heavy rains, citizens fear a repeat of previous years’ flooding if urgent measures are not taken to clear the drains in time.
