The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued a contempt of court notice to Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Captain (r) Waseem Ahmad for not showing up despite summons. Hearing the petition filed by a citizen named Saifullah, LHC Chief Justice (CJ) Aalia Neelum ordered the deputy commissioner to appear in the court on December 22 and submit his reply. Assistant Advocate General Waqas Umar appeared on behalf of the Punjab government.

In his petition, Saifullah said that 11 kanals of land that belonged to him was illegally transferred to another person by the DC. He added that the other person was already occupying more land than what he actually owned. “That person submitted an application to the DC Sargodha, who misused his authority and ordered the transfer of 11 kanals of my land to him. Therefore, it is prayed to the court to declare the order of transfer of land null and void,” the petition read.
