Unemployment rate has increased by 0.6 percent over the past four years, and in Punjab the jobless percentage was recorded as 7.3 percent. According to details, in the year 2020-21, the unemployment percentage was 6.7 percent, and in fiscal year 2024-25 it reached 6.7 percent. During the current fiscal year, the unemployment percentage was recorded at 7.3 percent.

The statistics showed that an increase was recorded in the labour force, but employment opportunities are very low. Concerns are growing over the employment issue in Punjab. Fewer jobs are being created compared to the growing labor force. The Punjab government has established a special cell for providing job opportunities. The renowned economic experts and job hunters will be included in the cell. Sources further said that the provincial government will take measures to generate employment opportunities.
