President Asif Ali Zardari has arrived in Islamabad to chair a key meeting aimed at reviewing the current situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting is expected to discuss the prevailing situation in the province and related matters, sources said. The situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has remained a key political and security concern, with tensions between the provincial and federal governments over governance, law and order, and other administrative matters.
The issue has gained further attention amid ongoing political developments in the province. Sources further said that a meeting between President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also likely to take place. Spokesperson to the President Murtaza Solangi on Thursday issued a strong warning to the Afghan Taliban regime over its continued support to terrorist outfits by providing them with safe sanctuaries, training and logistical support.
“If the illegitimate Taliban regime thinks they will continue to provide safe sanctuaries, training and logistical support to a cocktail of terror outfits and act as a surrogate mother of terror, the global and regional forces of peace and civilisation shall surprise them,” the spokesperson said in a statement on his X timeline. He, however, said that the surprise by the global and regional forces of peace might not be too pleasant for the “beasts”.
The statement by the president’s spokesperson came after Pakistan carried out well-planned and calibrated aerial strikes against the hideouts and safe havens of terrorist organisations of Fitna al Khwarij and Fitna al Hindustan in Afghanistan, killing multiple terrorists, in continuation of operation Ghazab lil Haq.
