FIA Special Central Court in Lahore has adjourned the hearing of suspicious bank transactions and money laundering case against former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi till September 15. During the proceedings on Wednesday, lawyers for Pervaiz Elahi filed a petition for exemption from one-day court attendance by the former CM due to illness and the court accepting the application adjourned the hearing till September 15.
The FIA has filed suspicious bank transactions and money laundering case against Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi. Special Central Court Judge Ashfaq Ahmed conducted the hearing today. Pervaiz Elahi did not appear due to illness. The court sought further arguments on Pervaiz Elahi’s acquittal petition on next hearing, ordering the former CM to be present in court then.
The FIA prosecutor has requested to dismiss Pervez Elahi’s acquittal petition while his lawyers requested the court that there is no evidence of corruption and the acquittal petition should be accepted. Pervez Elahi’s co-accused in the court appeared before the judge. Parvez Elahi’s daughter-in-law Zahra Elahi has been granted permanent exemption from appearance.
Rasikh Elahi's wife Zahra Elahi has been granted exemption from attendance on the grounds of being a veiled woman. The court has appointed Farrukh Amin Rana Advocate as a pleader to appear in place of Zahra Elahi. According to prosecution, Zahra Elahi is a named accused in the supplementary challan of the money laundering case.
