The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Lahore Zone on Wednesday intensified its crackdown against human smugglers and arrested two accused involved in migrant smuggling and visa fraud,swindling more than Rs.7.35 million from citizens on the pretext of arranging overseas employment.A spokesperson said on Wednesday that the arrested accused were identified as Shahid Saeed and Muhammad Shakeel, who were apprehended during operations conducted in different areas of Lahore and Okara.
He said that accused Muhammad Shakeel extorted Rs.5 million from a citizen by promising to arrange a Canadian work visa, while Shahid Saeed fraudulently obtained Rs.2.35 million from another citizen on the pretext of securing a Croatia work visa. The spokesperson added that the accused have been taken into custody and further investigation has been initiated.
