The government has enhanced financial assistance under the Ramzan Relief Package 2026, increasing cash support to Rs13,000 per family for 1.7 million deserving households as part of efforts to strengthen targeted social protection ahead of the holy month.
According to the Monthly Development Update (February 2026) issued by the Economic Policy Wing of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, the Prime Minister approved the revised package during a high-level meeting held on January 16, 2026. The assistance amount has been raised from Rs12,500 last year to Rs13,000 per family this year.
The package is aimed at providing timely financial relief to vulnerable segments of society, particularly low-income households facing seasonal expenditure pressures during Ramzan. Beneficiaries fall within the Proxy Means Test (PMT) score range of 32–36, ensuring that support is directed toward families most in need.
The report notes that approximately 1.7 million households will receive the enhanced assistance, reflecting the scale of the government’s outreach. By directly transferring cash to eligible families, the programme seeks to help them manage essential expenses, including food and household necessities, during the month.
Implementation of the relief package involves coordinated efforts among several institutions. The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is leading beneficiary identification, outreach and payment distribution, working closely with the Finance Division and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to ensure smooth execution.
The SBP is finalizing the disbursement framework and has maintained transaction charges at last year’s level to maximize the benefits reaching recipients. This step is intended to ensure that households receive the full value of the assistance without additional deductions.
To support efficient delivery, the government has directed the rapid mobilization of call centers and the establishment of an inter-ministerial monitoring and control mechanism. These measures aim to address operational issues promptly and maintain transparency throughout the process.
Public communication is also being emphasized. Digital and electronic media platforms are being used to disseminate information widely, helping eligible families understand the programme and access assistance in a timely manner.
The report highlights that the enhanced relief package reflects a people-centric approach to development, where social protection is integrated with broader economic management. Targeted cash support helps cushion vulnerable households against short-term financial pressures and promotes inclusive welfare outcomes.
By increasing the assistance amount and maintaining coordinated delivery systems, the government aims to ensure that benefits reach deserving families efficiently and transparently. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen social safety nets and protect low-income groups.
With Rs13,000 allocated per household for 1.7 million families, the Ramzan Relief Package 2026 underscores the continued focus on providing direct support to those most in need during the festive period.
