An IndiGo flight scheduled to depart from Lucknow for Indian capital Delhi received a bomb threat shortly before takeoff, prompting authorities to activate security protocols, reported PTI news agency on Friday.Following the alert, security agencies conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft and the surrounding areas. ANI news agency reported that the threat was received while the flight was being prepared for departure from Lucknow.

The flight, carrying around 180 passengers, was delayed as security checks were carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures. The bomb threat was later found to be a hoax, but the aircraft remained on the ground as authorities carried out mandatory security checks, according to Hindustan Times. The IndiGo flight was scheduled to depart from Lucknow for Delhi at 10.45 am local time. The alert was received by the flight crew shortly before the scheduled departure, prompting officials to activate standard security protocols.

As a precaution, the aircraft was kept at the apron and did not proceed for takeoff while a comprehensive inspection was conducted. This comes days after a note that was interpreted by the cabin crew as a bomb threat on an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kannur, triggering an emergency security response after the aircraft landed at Kannur International Airport on Wednesday. The note was discovered in a waste bin inside one of the aircraft’s lavatories after the flight landed at around 3.20 pm.

The cabin crew immediately alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and security authorities, prompting an emergency response. The aircraft was subsequently moved to an isolation bay, where bomb disposal and dog squad teams conducted a comprehensive search. However, nothing suspicious was found. Police later said the note did not contain any bomb threat and had been “misinterpreted" by the cabin crew.
