PTI agents, voters flock to empty polling stations in IslamabadBreaking

December 31, 2022

Though the Election Commission of Pakistan is not holding the local government elections in the federal capital today as directed by the Islamabad High Court, but the PTI polling agents and the voters are still flocking to the polling stations to cast their votes. The PTI and Pakistan Peoples Party, too, have established their party camps outside the polling stations.

There is no polling activity in Islamabad, but still the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s polling agents and the voters are making a beeline outside the polling stations. No polling staff reached any polling station today, nor was the election material dispatched to conduct the polls. Despite this, the voters of UC 1 of Syedpur village reached the polling station and when they found that the gate of the polling station was closed and there was no polling staff, they stood there in a queue as a protest.

Voters also thronged the polling stations in G-6, G-7, F-10 and F-11 Syedpur. Earlier today, the Election Commission of Pakistan filed an intra-court appeal against the single-bench decision of the Islamabad High Court which ordered the commission to hold the local government elections in the capital city today (Dec 31).
