Senior Sindh Minister for Information, Transport & Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday inaugurated two new routes of the Peoples Bus Service in Khairpur, saying the initiative would provide affordable travel facilities to the people of the district. Addressing the ceremony, he congratulated the elected representatives and residents of Khairpur Mirs on the launch of the low cost transport service. He said that the record development work has been carried out in every district of Sindh.
“Khairpur is home to Pakistan’s only hospital offering free lung treatment. Mehran University, Khairpur Medical College Campus, Cadet College Khairpur and campuses of other colleges have also been established here," he added. The Senior Minister said development projects were not limited to Khairpur alone, but were being executed across the province. “Under the leadership of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, besides building 2.1 million houses, the Peoples Bus Service has been launched in the province,” he added.
He said the Sindh government would bear a portion of the fare for every passenger of the Peoples Bus Service. “Pink Bus Service and Pink Scooties for women will also be introduced in Khairpur, in addition to the Peoples Bus Service,” he announced. Commenting on politics, the minister said every party had the right to participate in politics but criticism should remain within ethical limits. Pakistan needs young leadership.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has defended Pakistan on every front, he said. Referring to recent tensions, Memon said Pakistan’s armed forces had shattered Modi’s arrogance during Marka-i-Haq and wiped the sindoor off India’s forehead. He urged citizens to take care of Peoples Bus Service buses, said that they are for all of you, protect them.
Today we are launching two new routes of the Peoples Bus Service, he said and added that Fuel prices have risen globally and in Pakistan as well. If the people of Khairpur get AC buses at low fares, what could be better. He said the Sindh government was providing a subsidy for every passenger. More buses for Khairpur are also included in the new scheme, he added. He said work was under way on water schemes and road projects in Sindh.
