Basit Ali suggests holding remaining PSL 10 matches in Bangladesh Breaking

May 12, 2025

Former Pakistan Test cricketer Basit Ali has proposed shifting the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 to Bangladesh, citing the country's passionate cricket fanbase and close ties with Pakistan. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the former middle-order batter said that Bangladesh is a “brotherly country” and offers a strong fan turnout, which would be beneficial for the league’s continuity and visibility.

“Instead of Dubai, PSL matches should be held in Bangladesh. People in Bangladesh love cricket, and stadiums are packed during games,” he said, adding that such a move would likely generate overwhelming public support and revive interest in the tournament. The suggestion comes amid uncertainty surrounding the remainder of PSL 10, which has been suspended indefinitely due to rising regional tensions following reported Indian aggression.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet made an official announcement regarding the resumption of the league. However, sources within the board have indicated that franchises have been advised to keep their foreign players stationed in Dubai, and local players have also been told to remain mentally prepared for a potential restart.

It is believed that players may soon be asked to assemble in Islamabad, where the PCB is expected to hold a final round of deliberations before deciding the tournament’s fate. While PSL has previously staged matches in the UAE due to security concerns, holding the event in Bangladesh would mark the first time the league moves to South Asia outside Pakistan, if approved.
