International Textile Limited (ITL) – one of Pakistan’s largest towel manufacturers and exporters – has made a significant move by adopting RISE with SAP, a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, reports WealthPK.

This transition marks a major step in the digital transformation of Pakistan’s textile sector. Pakistan’s regulatory landscape is undergoing a remarkable shift, as key institutions step up efforts to revitalize economy, restore investor confidence, and drive long-overdue reforms. After over a decade of relying on SAP’s on-premises ERP Central Component (ECC), ITL identified the need for a modern solution that could meet the demands of an increasingly complex and fast-paced market.

The adoption of RISE with SAP is expected to streamline ITL’s internal operations, enable real-time insights, and support broader sustainability and artificial intelligence initiatives. According to Asghar Ali Khan, Chief Operating Officer at ITL, the decision to move to the cloud was driven by the need for a seamless integration across departments and enhanced data visibility.

The new system would strengthen ITL’s ability to respond to global demand fluctuations and improve its operational resilience. Dr Farah Naz, HR Digitization Head at Gravity Solutions, said ITL’s move was a signal to the rest of the textile sector. She explained that as international customers become more demanding about transparency, speed, and sustainability, cloud adoption will increasingly separate industry leaders from laggards.

She believed ITL’s example could encourage other manufacturers to invest in similar technology upgrades. Talking to WealthPK, Zubair Alam, marketing manager at Nishat Mills, remarked that embracing digital tools was no longer optional for the industry. He said the ITL’s transition to cloud ERP was timely and strategic, especially as Pakistan’s textile exporters faced growing pressure to comply with the international digital supply chain protocols.

Alam believed that if more companies followed this path, it could enhance the global perception of Pakistan’s textile industry as a modern and reliable sourcing hub. Pakistan’s textile industry, the backbone of its export economy, is facing mounting pressure to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and meet the rising global compliance benchmarks. With ITL leading the way, industry observers say the shift toward cloud-based ERP systems could help the sector unlock greater value and maintain its competitiveness in the international markets.
