Madhya Pradesh minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has come under severe criticism for making a derogatory comment about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a senior and highly decorated Indian Army officer. Speaking at a public event in Raikunda village, BJP minister Shah made an inflammatory statement, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent a "sister" of those responsible for the Pahalgam attack, in reference to Colonel Qureshi.
The remark, made in connection with “Operation Sindoor,” was met with the audience. The Congress party condemned the comment as "highly objectionable" and demanded Shah’s resignation. Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari denounced the minister’s remarks, accusing him of injecting communal and gender-based undertones into military affairs for political mileage.
Sharing the speech’s video on social media, Patwari said such rhetoric not only disrespects a brave officer but also fuels social divisions. He urged the BJP to take immediate action and clarify its stance on the issue. The Congress demanded the resignation of Kunwar Vijay Shah. Patwari argued that Minister Shah’s statement, which framed military decisions in a communal and gender-based narrative, could exacerbate tensions.
