The first group of doctors from Sindh has arrived in China to begin training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The opening ceremony was held at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. Under this initiative, six Pakistani doctors, nominated by the Government of Sindh, are undergoing advanced training at the Hospital. The program is being supported by the Hunan University of Medicine and the Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, with the aim of building capacity for specialized TCM practice in Pakistan, Gwadar Pro reported on Wednesday.
Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH and initiator of the program, while speaking at the ceremony, stated that the Chinese Medicine (TCM) Partition Training Program for Pakistan marks a new chapter in the flourishing partnership between Pakistan and China in the field of healthcare and traditional medicine.
He noted the ongoing collaborations supported by NATCM and COMSTECH, which include technician and post-doctoral training, research in space medicine, AI in biomedical sciences, and joint projects at leading Chinese institutions. Emphasizing the over 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, Dr. Choudhary reaffirmed that both nations share a rich heritage of traditional medicine, including TCM and Unani systems, which have served communities for centuries. He stressed the collective goal of integrating the age-old wisdom of traditional healing with modern, evidence-based medical practices for the benefit of people in both countries.
