A four-day anti-polio campaign has been launched in Sialkot district from April 13 to 16, 2026, with April 17 reserved as a catch-up day to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.According to a DC office spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali inaugurated the campaign by administering polio and Vitamin A drops to children, and said that eradication of polio requires collective efforts.
She added that, in line with Punjab government directives, the district administration is fully committed to achieving 100 percent coverage. A total of 795,877 children under the age of five will be vaccinated across the district, including 347,969 in Sialkot, 170,167 in Daska, 167,203 in Pasrur, and 87,368 in Sambrial, the DC said, adding that 2,878 teams comprising 6,288 trained workers have been deployed.
She said the teams include mobile, fixed and transit units to ensure maximum outreach, while effective monitoring, micro-planning and cold chain management systems have been put in place for smooth implementation. The Deputy Commissioner urged parents to cooperate with the teams and ensure vaccination of their children. A district control room has also been set up for public facilitation at 052-9250011.
