Pakistan has said it would welcome any agreement reached between the United States and Iran, regardless of where it is finalised, while adding that hosting such an accord in Pakistan would be considered an honour for the country. Speaking during the Foreign Office’s weekly briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi expressed hope that Tehran and Washington would soon reach a settlement.

However, he said it was not yet clear whether the expected agreement would be brief, on 'one page or more', or detailed in nature. He said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had briefed members of the diplomatic corps on May 5 regarding developments linked to the operation. Andrabi added that Ishaq Dar had also contacted Kuwaiti authorities on May 2 as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement.

According to the briefing, Ishaq Dar also met Norway’s deputy foreign minister, during which he was invited to attend the Oslo Forum. Tahir Andrabi said the international community remained concerned about peace and security in South Asia amid continuing regional tensions. The spokesperson also referred to the first anniversary of “Marka-e-Haq”, stating that several diplomatic initiatives were underway in connection with the occasion.
