Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to accelerate reform measures to transform Pakistan Railways into a modern, safe and reliable transport system.He was talking to Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi who called on him in Islamabad.The Prime Minister instructed the Minister for Railways to ensure the timely completion of ongoing railway projects and utilize all resources to provide the public with better, safer and affordable travelling facilities.Shehbaz Sharif said that the government is avoiding placing any additional burden on the public in view of the current economic conditions.

He emphasized the need to focus on improving the rail system to increase revenue.  The Prime Minister expressed commitment that the government is focused on the public welfare agenda and will improve the performance of all departments to put the country on the path of development.The Minister for Railways briefed the Prime Minister on the operational matters of Pakistan Railways, stating that considering public convenience in current Gulf situation, there will be no increase in fares for any operational trains running across the country.
