Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar on Tuesday directed police teams to remain on high alert in view of possible flooding in several districts of the province.According to a Punjab Police spokesperson,the IGP instructed regional and district police officers to personally monitor relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas. He emphasized the need for close coordination between police,district administrations and rescue agencies. Regular patrolling was being carried out by police teams in villages and settlements located near rivers,the statement said.

Dr Usman added that relief camps had been established in affected areas and that measures were in place to provide assistance and ensure the security of displaced persons.He said the protection of lives,property and infrastructure in flood-prone areas was a top priority.Food,medicines, and other essential supplies were being delivered to flood victims,while police control centres were monitoring the situation around the clock in coordination with relevant departments.
