Coordinator to Prime Minister on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam has called for equal climate finance and shared global responsibilities to mitigate impacts of climate change.Addressing a symposium in Islamabad , she said access to climate finance is not just about funds, but it is about survival, dignity and transformation.Romina Khurshid Alam said Pakistan's coastal areas and communities bear to burden of a crisis, which they did not create.
She said the government alone cannot carry the responsibility to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change and urged the private and corporate sector to join hands with the government in this connection. Highlighting the impacts of climate change particularly in Balochistan, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister said climate finance can unlock resilient infrastructure, strengthen food and water security, support renewable energy solutions and create sustainable livelihoods.
She said it can also boost the social economy of the region and uplift communities.Addressing the symposium, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti urged all stakeholders to work together to build a climate resilient Balochistan where sustainable development and environmental protection go hand in hand.
