The Sindh government on Monday again announced a complete ban on use of plastic bags across the province including Karachi with effect from June 15, 2025. Sindh Environment Department already issued a notification in this regard. The notification further stated that this ban will also be applicable on non-declarable, Okaso declarable, black and re-cycled plastic bags.  

In 2019, a partial ban was imposed on use of plastic bags but now after amendment in Sindh Prohibition of Non-Declarable Plastic Products Rules 2014 a complete ban imposed on plastic bags. Secretary Department of Environment Agha Shehnawaz said that only environment-friendly bags will be allowed for use.  

He further said that zero-tolerance policy will be adopted against use of plastic bags in the province. He said that strict action will be taken against those people who will found in using plastic bags rules. He appealed people to extend their full cooperation and support to Sindh government in this regard.
