The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a two-page written order stopping Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri from performing judicial functions until a decision is made by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).The order, signed by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan, stated that the matter involves sensitive questions, including the judge’s eligibility.

The court noted that a complaint against Justice Jahangiri is already pending before the Supreme Judicial Council, and until it is decided, the judge must refrain from carrying out any judicial work.Furthermore, the IHC directed the Attorney General of Pakistan and the Advocate General of Islamabad to assist the court on October 21 in the case.

The court also accepted a request from another petitioner seeking to become a party in the proceedings.The ruling underscores the gravity of the case and places Justice Jahangiri’s judicial role in suspension until the SJC delivers its verdict.
