AIOU introduces ‘online system of result correction and rechecking’

ISLAMABAD, May 29 (INP): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has introduced online system of result correction and rechecking to facilitate the prospective applicants and continued students, enabling them to submit their application online sitting anywhere in the country. The new system named ‘Result Rechecking Application’ placed at the University’s website under the box ‘Examinations’. The received application would immediately be processed. According to the official, the new system is time and cost effective, expediting the whole process of issuing PCs and degrees to the students. The new IT-based mechanism was developed in order to minimize the coordination and communication gap among the applicants and the Examination Department. The AIOU has recently introduced a number of initiatives to bring about qualitative improvement in the entire admission, examination and delivery system, under the policy-guideline given by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui. The University had already launched an IT’s based system intimating its students about the exam-schedule through SMS. In addition to this existing practice of informing the students about the exams through mail and website, text messages were also being sent to the students on their given cell numbers. Internet tracking system were already introduced, enabling the students to check their admission status, books’ mailing process as well as the position of their applications regarding issuance of degrees The University is frequently holding professional development courses for its employees for their capacity-building, enabling them to use new technology in the educational management process. It has improved its delivery system in the last two years, having on-line admission form, intimation of admission on webpage and SMS alerts for admission confirmation. In addition, to provide easy access to students to get immediate response of their queries, online ‘Complaint Management Center’ was already set up and working smoothly. Through this Center, students across the country were approached the University for addressing their complaints, relating to admission, examination or delivery of books. INP/AK
