Alvi, Fazl, Aitzaz to contest presidential election

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (INP): After expiry of the deadline for the withdrawal of candidature, three candidates have remained in the field now to contest the presidential election on September 04. The contesting candidates include PTI’s Dr. Arif Alvi, PML-N’s backed Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan of PPP. Amir Muqam, covering candidate of Maulana Fazlur Rehman withdrew his nomination papers today. According to ECP, candidates were allowed to withdraw their candidature by 12 noon today. Earlier on August 29, Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza accepted nomination papers of all the three candidates contesting the presidential election.
