FAISALABAD, Aug 02 (INP): Regional Chairman All Pakistan Textiles Mills Association (APTMA) Naveed Gulzar on Thursday congratulated Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan on his historical victory in general elections-2018. In a statement, he said that Pakistan's economy is passing through a deep crisis and the business community was waiting for a stable government which could resolve their genuine issues in addition to attracting much needed Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). He said that to attain sustainable economic growth, increase in export of value added textile products is inevitable. Such increase is only possible if the cost of doing business is less than competing countries like India, Bangladesh and China. Government has imposed various taxes on energy (electricity and gas) which are unjust and unreasonable. Assuring full cooperation to PTI Chairman on behalf of the business community, he said that textile is the mainstay of the national economy and it needs a competent of visionary technocrat to give tangible advice to once again put this foreign exchange earning sector on path to progress and prosperity. He demanded that in this connection Zafar Iqbal Sarwar of PTI central policy council of textile may be nominated as ‘Textile Advisor’ with immediate effect. He said that Zafar Iqbal Sarwar himself belong to this sector and fully understand its problems and intricacies. “Mr. Zafar had also played a key role in the formulation of the PTIs textile policy”, he added. Naveed Gulzar said that Zafar has potential to satisfy the industrialist belonging to textile sector by advocating their genuine problem at the policy making level with viable and practicable solutions. He further urged other political parties to support PTI in resolving the critical economic issues instead of further complicating the existing problems for the newly elected PTI government in waiting.
