BEIJING, November 20 (INP): China on Wednesday strongly condemned and resolutely opposed the passage of the "Hong Kong Bill of Rights on Human Rights and Democracy" by the US Senate.

China has already made solemn representations to the US, said a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang at a regular news conference.

He said, this bad behavior of the US side will not only harm China's interests, but will also harm the important interests of the US itself in Hong Kong. We are telling the US to recognize the situation and take the plunge.

We will immediately take measures to stop the case from becoming a law, immediately stop interfering with Hong Kong affairs, and immediately stop interfering in China's internal affairs.

The spokesperson further said, If the US side is willing to go its own way, China will certainly take effective measures to resolutely counter it. No one should underestimate China’s firm determination and strong will to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests, implement the principle of "one country, two systems," and safeguard Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu summoned the Chargé d’affaires of the US Embassy in China to make solemn representations and strong protests on the US Senate’s deliberation and adoption of the Hong Kong Bill of Rights on Human Rights and Democracy. The Chinese side has repeatedly expressed its solemn position to the US side on a series of wrong words and deeds that the US has recently been on the issue of Hong Kong.

The US side’s concerns about China are very clear. We hope that the US will seriously treat China's solemn representation and solemn stance, immediately stop irresponsible words and deeds, stop interfering with Hong Kong affairs, and stop interfering in China's internal affairs, he added.
