BEIJING, January 6 (INP): China is highly concerned about the current state of affairs in the Middle East and believes that further deterioration of the situation in the region is not in the interest of any party.

Ensuring peace and stability in the region is vital to the world's peace, said a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Geng Shuang at a regular news briefing here on Monday.

China, he reiterated has always opposed the abuse of force in international relations. We call on all parties concerned to exercise restraint, avoid escalation of events, return to the track of dialogue and consultation as soon as possible, and promote the reduction of tension. China will continue to uphold an objective and fair position and play a constructive role in maintaining peace and security in the Middle East Gulf region.

Power politics is unpopular and unsustainable. The recent military adventures by the United States violated the basic norms of international relations and exacerbated tensions and turbulence in the regional situation. China has always opposed the use of force in international relations. There is no way out for military means, and extreme pressure cannot work.

China holds that all parties should earnestly abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms of international relations, the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be respected, and peace and stability in the Middle East Gulf region should be maintained.

We urge the United States not to abuse force, and call on all parties concerned to exercise restraint, to avoid escalating the situation in turn, and to return to the track of dialogue and consultation as soon as possible to promote the reduction of tension.
