Christmas event marked at AIOU

ISLAMABAD, July 2 (INP): A magnificent Christmas tree was planted here in the main park of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to show solidarity with the University’s minority employees. While planting sapling of the tree, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui announced that this tree will be a symbol of the dignified and dedicated role of the Christians community, they are playing in the development of the University. It will be reflective of the fact, the religious belief of the minorities is given high respect and the minorities are given equal opportunities in the welfare activities. Sapling of ten feet tall Araucanian tree (Christmas sign) will be given special care whole of the year. It will be an opportunity for the Christians to celebrate their annual event with due solemnity. On the desire of the Vice Chancellor, it has been made an annual feature to celebrate Marry Christmas on 25th December, with cutting of cake. In future the Christmas day‘s ceremony will be arranged at the designated place (Site of tree) in the park. INP/AJ
