COAS approves death sentences of 12 hardcore terrorists

RAWALPINDI, July 02 (INP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday confirmed the death sentences of 12 hardcore terrorists. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists were involved in the attack on the Parachinar Imam Bargah and killing of 26 civilians and injured 133. Arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession. These convicts were tried by special military courts. Besides, six other convicts have been awarded imprisonment. Civilian Ehsan Ullah son of Kifayat Ullah was also tried by special military court, however, he was found not guilty and has been acquitted accordingly. Ashiq Khan, Rashid, Mehraj, Muhammad Rasool, Jannat Karim, Abu Baqar, Anwar Khan, Ghulam Habib, Abdul Ghafoor, Rawaz Khan, Mubarik Zaib and Ayub Khan were handed the death penalty.
