Dar loses Council of Common Interests membership to Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (INP): Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has been replaced with Interior Minister Ishaq Dar at the Council of Common Interests on Monday. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier, the chairmanship of ECC and was also taken away from the federal finance minister. Ishaq Dar is currently facing trial in a corruption case that spawned from the Panama Papers corruption case. This is quite a development for Ishaq Dar, who was considered the most powerful and influential personality within the government after former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was disqualified by the apex court. As per various reports, the government has also appointed the finance minister as an OCD. These developments come in the wake of Dar’s rising unpopularity after facing not only corruptions scandals but growing calls from opposition parties for his resignation as finance minister. Dar has seemingly lost his credibility after opposition parties slammed his financial policies for the government. The finance minister is in London currently where he is seeking medical treatment.
