Earlier on October 24, Ishaq Dar’s wife challenged the verdict of the accountability court pertaining to auctioning of Dar’s property. Tabassum Ishaq Dar filed the appeal in the accountability court. Tabassum—in her petition—stated that she is the sole owner of the house located in Lahore’s Gulberg area. “I will suffer loss if the house is seized by the officials”, claimed Dar’s wife. The court issued notice to the prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Imran Shafique and summoned counter-arguments on November 7. Likewise, Tabassum also raised objections on freezing of a bank account linked to Hajvery Foundation. She requested court to allow her using funds from the frozen account. The court issued notice to NAB’s prosecutor and also provided him a copy of Tabassum’s petition. Later, the hearing was adjourned till Nov 7. Earlier on October 10, the progress report on the auction of former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s assets was submitted in the accountability court. The seizure of Dar’s assets was ordered after he did not appear before the accountability court in the case pertaining to the accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income. Investigation officer Nadir Abbas submitted report on the seizure of assets, in which it has been stated National Accountability Bureau has provided details on Dar’s accounts to the Punjab government. According to the report, the accounts belonging to Dar and his companies hold more than Rs500.8 million that have been seized by the Punjab government. Moreover, the provincial government also seized Dar’s house in Gulberg 3, Lahore, while the six acres land in Malot, Islamabad were sold before the investigation into the case began, the report further stated. Three plots belonging to Dar in a housing society were also seized over court orders in December 2017. INP/AJ[/timed-content-server]
