KARACHI, June 04 (INP) – Renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has clarified that he does not need permission from anyone to sing the qawalis of his late uncle Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said, "I am the successor my Uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Why would I need permission?” “I have performed at the Noble Peace Prize ceremony where, in fact, I was the headline performer. I’ve also performed at the UN General Assembly,” he added. The singer responded to the press conference of Nusrat’s daughter Nida who said that she will be taking action against people who have used her father’s song without permission. “After my father’s death, I possess the rights to his music. I will be taking strict action against the people who are using them and will also be taking them to court,” Nida said. Inp/khan
