Dual-nikkah case: Court declares Meera as wife of Attiq after nine years

LAHORE, May 28 (INP) – Family court in Lahore has on Monday declared Pakistani film actress Meera as wife of Attiq-ur-Rehman after nine years. Announcing the verdict of dual-nikkah case, the court said that Meera’s wedding with Attiq is based on facts. Earlier, marriage registrar Hamid Khan had authenticated Meera’s nikkah with Attiq-ur-Rehman in the court. Hamid Khan assured the judge that the actor’s nikkah with Attiq was performed in the presence of witnesses as per Islamic law. He also provided evidence to justify his statement. Attiq had also recorded statement in the case for the first time in nine years, saying that Meera is his wife and he still loves her. Afterwards, Meera’s mother had refused to appear in the court to record her stance. Inp/khan
