Everyone including army chief has right to comment on Economy: Khursheed Shah

SUKKUR, Oct 14 (INP): Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Saturday said that everyone including Chief of Army Staff has the right to comment on the economy of the country. Talking to media in Rohri town of Sukkur, he said that if Army Chief had any misunderstanding about the economy the government must remove it. Shah was responding to Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal’s comment that DG ISPR should refrain from commenting on economy. He said that there is nothing wrong with the army chief commenting on the state of the economy since he was the “commander-in-chief” of the army. A weakened economy means a weakened army, he said. Shah said that PPP had settled the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuat in 1974 but Captain Safdar had perplexed a settled issue. He said that the incident in accountability court must have opened our eyes, adding that politics of abuse was in no one’s favour which should be shunned by everyone. INP/LK/AH
