Explosion kills 3 in Turkish-held area in northern Syria

DAMASCUS, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- At least three civilians were killed and four others wounded on Wednesday when a booby-trapped vehicle exploded in Syria's northern province of Raqqa, state news agency SANA reported.
The explosion rocked the village of Suluk in the northern countryside of Raqqa, said SANA, without giving more details. Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said the explosion was a powerful one, noting that it comes after 21 explosions that rocked areas controlled by Turkey and the Turkey-backed rebels in northern Syria since October 2019.
The Turkey-backed rebels and Turkish forces entered areas in northern Syria following the Turkish operation against Kurdish-controlled areas in October, 2019. The watchdog group said there are almost daily explosions and a state of lawlessness in Turkey-held areas in northern Syria.
