FIA bars Hamza Shehbaz from flying abroad

December 11, 2018

LAHORE, Dec 11 (INP): Officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday offloaded leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz from a foreign airlines flight at Allama Iqbal International Airport and barred him to abroad.

Hamza was traveling to London when he was made to disembark from the flight at the airport in Lahore.

Sources confirmed that the PML-N leader was offloaded from the flight because of a NAB case pending against him.

The son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-) President Shehbaz Sharif said, "When I reached the immigration counter, I was told that my name is on the black list."

"I am not wanted in the ongoing National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry," he added.

Hamza was scheduled to depart for London via a private airline to meet his brother.

The NAB had launched an investigation against the PML-N leader and his brother Salman Shehbaz for allegedly amassing assets beyond his sources of income.

Hamza had earlier obtained protective bail from the Lahore High Court to avoid his possible arrest at the hands of the Bureau.

The PML-N leader is also being probed by the anti-graft watchdog in Ramzan Sugar Mills and Saaf Pani Company Scam.
